It is difficult - without reading the essay several times - to develop a coherent response to the thoughts expressed here. But the emphasis on understanding the "other" seems much like the perspective of Miroslav Volf's book, Exclusion and Embrace: a theological exploration of identity, otherness, and reconciliation. I think this is an important concept to think about, whether the challenge is domestic or international. Thanks for your thoughtful words.

Lol yeah... I find it hard to believe.

Even the Venezuelan VP doesn't seem to be concerned... You would think if he was really removed she would be running things ASAP.
